About Preg Med

Preg Med publishes plain-English pages about pregnancy: what happens in each of the forty weeks, what common symptoms mean, which conditions get diagnosed and why, and what is known about the medicines people most often ask about. There are currently 290 pages across 10 sections.

Where this content came from

The archive was written for Preg Med over a number of years and originally published on WordPress. In 2026 it was rebuilt as a static site so that the pages load quickly, stay online reliably, and can be reviewed and corrected in an orderly way.

Nothing was invented during that rebuild. Pages were carried across as they were written, with formatting repaired, broken links removed and images restored. Where a page was found to contain guidance that is no longer current, the page carries a notice saying so rather than being quietly edited or quietly deleted.

What has changed

• Sixteen pages mention the FDA pregnancy letter categories (A, B, C, D and X). That system was withdrawn in 2015. Those pages now carry a notice explaining this, and are queued for review.
• Five pages were removed: one covering a medicine withdrawn from the US market in 2020, one about a consumer gadget unrelated to pregnancy, and three product roundups whose recommendations were years out of date. Each redirects to the page that now covers the subject.
• Article URLs changed shape, from /page-name.htm to a section-based path. Every old address redirects to its new one.

Authorship

The archive was published under a single site account rather than individual bylines, so we cannot retrospectively attribute pages to the people who wrote them, and we are not going to invent names. Pages reviewed from this point on will carry the reviewer and the date.
